We are back with the Woodbridge Festival of Art And Music on Sunday 11 October 2020 to premier the fourth instalment of their on-going live and online 2020 festival, in association MSF at The Social, London and Cross Club and Move Association in Prague.

Sunday’s broadcast features the sold-out COVID secure live show of influential electronic Jazz pioneers Red Snapper at The Riverside, Woodbridge, and the UK debut of up-and-coming Czech act Noisy Pots – playing live in Prague.

Noisy Pots are a jazz and classically trained duo who make electro from kitchen utensils and pots and pans – hence the name. Noisy Pots appear as a part of MSF‘s pan European network involving The Social, London and Noise of Art in the UK and Move Association and Cross Club in Prague. One of several European acts scheduled to perform our events before COVID made touring impossible, they release their new single, Khan, this week and are currently building a following amongst UK tastemakers.

Red Snapper will be releasing long awaited new material this year. Their track Truth 1 (currently getting airplay on BBC 6 Music) is the first of three new singles, while an album will be released in 2021.

Best known for their unique and dramatic sound and passionate live performances, Red Snapper embrace deep funk, hip-hop, dub, psychedelic surf and afro-jazz. Their track Spikey is featured on El Camino, the recently released Netflix Breaking Bad film directed by Vince Gilligan. They tour globally and support acts such as Massive Attack, Bjork, The Prodigy, De La Soul and The Fugees.

Red Snapper’s unique show in Woodbridge saw them perform a one-off collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Tim Hutton, whose credits include working with acts such as Afrika Bambaataa, Groove Armada, Amy Winehouse, Professor Green, Mike Skinner and many more.

“It is with immense gratitude we accepted an offer to play at The WOODBRIDGE FESTIVAL in Suffolk. We look forward to being part of this innovative festival,” Says Red Snappe’s Ali Friend.

Woodbridge Festival programme director DJ Ben Osborne, says: “Snapper first caused a stir when Andrew Weatherall stepped-in to remix their debut single in his Sabres of Paradise partnership. Snapper have made a huge and unique contribution to UK music and influenced acts worldwide since then. They’re forefathers to the current crop of British jazz acts bringing virtuoso musicianship into clubs around the world, and are one of the most exciting live acts in soul and dance.

Noisy Pots are at the forefront of the new scene in Prague and have matched the DIY approach of post punk, by using household objects, with contemporary electro.”

This show is part of Noise of Art‘s on-going online series of acts recorded live at real venues, and is part of the Woodbridge Festival Live monthly residency Woodbridge Live at The Riverside. The next Riverside live show is on 2 November and will feature three live acts (to be announced) and resident DJ Ben Osborne (Noise of Art).

Woodbridge Festival are holding a watch event for Sunday’s broadcast at The Table in Woodbridge, with DJ Ben Osborne, from 6pm. Please be sure to book if you are attending.

The online event is also raising funds for the Save Our Venues Campaign, nationally co-ordinated by Musicians Union and Music Venues Alliance.

The event is supported by Arts Council England using public funding.

Noisy Pots release single ‘Khan’ before exclusive live show UK premier

by on Oct.02, 2020, under Events

Next week we’ll be broadcasting a UK premier of talented Czech act Noisy Pots, one of our European guests sadly unable to join us live this year because of COVID.

In the run up here’s the video for their fab new single – Khan ft Tanita, which is out this weekend,

Noisy Pots are at the forefront of the new wave of diverse independent acts currently bubbling out of the Czech Republic. Formed by Michal Supak and Jakub Tengler, Noisy Pots come from classical and jazz backgrounds, but have focused on electronic music. The band started out by making electro music out of kitchen utensils – hence their name. And their live set-up still features pots and pans.

The new single is the prolific band’s sixth release in 2020 and features Tanita, whose feisty vocals are influenced by Grime and her Bulgarian roots. Mythic motives drawn from Bulgarian history inform the video and Tanita’s rap invokes a clash between two imagined warriors. The music video is directed by Oliver Beaujard and Nina Zardalishvili of Bao-bab Studios.

We will broadcast the UK premier of the show next weekend, alongside a performance by Red Snapper live at the  Riverside, for Woodbridge Festival of Art and Music.
