Bar Concrete
Southbank Centre
Belvedere Road
London SE1 8XX
Free Entry
8pm – 1am

Long running electronic music night, Slipped Disco, slides back into its residency at the Southbank Centre at the Hayward Gallery’s bar.

Featuring Slipped Disco’s open ended music policy of all things dancefloor, from proto disco, to techno templates, trap, cosmic house, indie dance and neo hip-hop.

Time Out said of January’s Slipped Disco at Concrete: “Obscenely fun electronic oddness. This pleases us very much indeed, primarily because of the anything-goes music policy that sees anything from classic techno, punk-funk, galactic house, deep down and dirty disco and other dancefloor dynamite do the rounds. Welcome back, Slipped Disco, and let the fun and weirdness begin again.” (Time Out January 2013)

“Whether penning features, currating Noise of Art projects or simply playing out, Ben Osborne likes to keep busy. Slipped Disco, his own night, has played a part in rescuing nights for everyone in need of somewhere to let their hair down.” Flavourpill.

Re:Play’s Festive Disco House Party

special guest THE REFLEX joins resident DJ BEN OSBORNE
BEDROOM BAR, 62 RIVINGTON ST EC2A

9-3am £5 adv / £7 on the door

Re:Play, the “unique club night” (Time Out) from Noise of Art founder and resident DJ Ben Osborne, invites cheeky disco edit king The Reflex in for a festive shindig.

Yet another talent to hit these shores from Paris, The Reflex has become a fixture of BBC Radio 6 Music, with specialist shows regularly playing his masterful revisions of classic and rare as hen’s teeth tracks.

His productions range from re-workings of disco from the Seventies, through eighties classics and onto rare as gold dust tracks from the Sixties. All of them worked in to effortless dance floor filling stompers. In the hands of The Reflex, even Christmas party playlists get transformed into into cool dancefloor cuts.

Getting the party started and bringing it to a roof rattling end will be host DJ and long standing figure on London’s electronic scene, DJ Ben Osborne. Ben’ll be mixing up the genres and periods with a trademark eclectic set, keeping spotters and dancers on their toes into the wee hours.

“Great concept, with consistently great guests too” (Time Out).

RE:PLAY returns 25 August with Diesel & Ben Osborne

Re:Play, the new club night from Noise of Art founder and resident DJ Ben Osborne, invites just one seminal guest DJ each month.

This month sees Diesel, half of DJ duo Rocky and Diesel and Xpress 2, join Ben on the checks for a carnival special.

Born out the UK’s Balearic DJ movement, Diesel’s earliest influences were warehouse parties where rare groove, soul, jazz, go-go and hip hop music were mixed together.

Following the arrival of Acid house, Diesel became a core member of Xpress 2 and one of the pioneers of UK house, responsible for early Nineties underground anthems such as ‘Muzik Express’, ‘London X Press’ and ‘Why Not?’.

Meanwhile, as part of the Ballistic Brothers, Diesel had helped shape the downbeat sound of trip hop.

By the turn of the Millennium Xpress 2’s deep house sound had risen from the underground to the top of the UK charts, scoring hits with classics such ‘Lazy’, featuring David Byrne of Talking Heads, and ‘Give It’, with vocalist Kurt Wagner of Lambchop.

His most recent LP, last year’s The House of Xpress 2, saw Diesel, and partner Rocky, update their trademark sound with new influences drawn form their globe trotting DJing activity. Meanwhile their Thursday evening show for Ministry Radio sees Xpress 2 continue to steer a pathway through 21st century house music of all genres.

Which period Diesel will revisit at Re:Play is anyone’s guess.

Resident and long standing London DJ, Ben Osborne, will be mixing the genres and periods in sets either side of Diesel, to keep spotters and dancers on their toes.

Re:Play gives guest and resident DJ space to express themselves in full length sets – with one twist. During the set the guest DJ will play a section of music from a particular point in their career. The period selected isn’t announced before the night.

“Great concept, with consistently great guests too” (Time Out).
