Czech singer Giudi (pictured above) is an artist who blends music with fashion and art. Her electro Alt Pop combines uplifting, sometimes dark melancholic songs with a live and electronic soundtrack; her distinctive vocals managing to be both haunting and melodic. She won the Silver Award for new artist at the 2018 Czech Music Awards. Now signed to the London based label Minimal Surface, Giudi has been recording a new album set for release in February 2020. Her last single, Tribe, a celebration of diversity and inclusiveness in society, made the playlist of  radio stations in the US, Germany, Italy, Holland, France and the UK. She has already scored chart successes in Europe and worked as a song writer since a very young age with the likes of Jonas Blue and Emily Newman. She is currently breaking out to launch her own new live band, of which this is an extremely early, if not first, gig.

Maella (pictured below) is a Prague born and London bred singer and prolific writer of her own material. Blending her husky but silken vocals and rasping guitars, with experimental production, and a full live band, she is currently studying a post graduate in composition at Tile Yard, Kings Cross,  overseen by Martyn Ware (founder of Human League and Heaven 17). She has just released her new EP Spells and, prior to her move to London in 2016 to study at BIMM, released her debut EP ‘It Is Coming’ under a Prague baused independent label. She has performed at an impressive array of venues including intimate favourites such as The Troubadour, scaling all the way to larger stages such as the O2 Shepherds Bush, Camden Assembly, The Islington, and 229 The Venue. She was the winner of best young singer award in the Czech Republic and her music successfully embraces both rock and electtonic music.

London Prague and Ireland – Kalle and Everything Shook

by on Oct.16, 2018, under Events

In advance of our weekend of events marking the end of WW1 on 9-11 November in Prague, there is a little soiree tonight (Tuesday 16 October) in Central London.

The third in our series presenting up-and-coming acts at The Social sees a double-headliner with award winning Czech act Kalle being joined by all-girl Irish electronic three-piece Everything Shook and host DJ Ben Osborne.

Kalle are Veronika Buriankova and David Zeman from the Czech Republic. They released their debut LP, Live From The Room, in 2014. Recorded at home on cassette, it won the Andél Award for Alt.Music in 2015. Their sophomore LP, Saffron Hills, was released at the end of last year.

Everything Shook consists of Robyn Bromfield, Jessica Kennedy and Áine Stapleton who recently stunned the audience at Ireland’s Electric Picnic festival. One of The Irish Times’ Best Irish Acts of 2014. The trio have played large festivals, music venues and art spaces throughout Ireland and New York. This is their debut at The Social, London. ‘Everything Shook…recall Fever Ray and Ladytron at a melancholy 4am disco with David Lynch DJing’ (Buzz.ie).

Host DJ Ben Osborne is the founder of Noise of Art. The Guardian describes Noise of Art as an “actual cathedral of sound” and Time Out says his sets span “techno, funk, galactic house, deep down and dirty disco and other dancefloor dynamite”
