London Prague and Ireland – Kalle and Everything Shook

In advance of our weekend of events marking the end of WW1 on 9-11 November in Prague, there is a little soiree tonight (Tuesday 16 October) in Central London.

The third in our series presenting up-and-coming acts at The Social sees a double-headliner with award winning Czech act Kalle being joined by all-girl Irish electronic three-piece Everything Shook and host DJ Ben Osborne.

Kalle are Veronika Buriankova and David Zeman from the Czech Republic. They released their debut LP, Live From The Room, in 2014. Recorded at home on cassette, it won the Andél Award for Alt.Music in 2015. Their sophomore LP, Saffron Hills, was released at the end of last year.

Everything Shook consists of Robyn Bromfield, Jessica Kennedy and Áine Stapleton who recently stunned the audience at Ireland’s Electric Picnic festival. One of The Irish Times’ Best Irish Acts of 2014. The trio have played large festivals, music venues and art spaces throughout Ireland and New York. This is their debut at The Social, London. ‘Everything Shook…recall Fever Ray and Ladytron at a melancholy 4am disco with David Lynch DJing’ (Buzz.ie).

Host DJ Ben Osborne is the founder of Noise of Art. The Guardian describes Noise of Art as an “actual cathedral of sound” and Time Out says his sets span “techno, funk, galactic house, deep down and dirty disco and other dancefloor dynamite”

Southbank, Crux, Train, Slipped Disco March 2013

With the first Noise of Art events since New Year to be announced shortly, March 2013 will see Slipped Disco return to Concrete at the Hayward Gallery, as well as the Big Chill Bar, a new piece at Crux and Train will make a one-off reappearance at the Bedroom Bar. Details below.

Saturday 9 March

Noise of Art contributes a new piece to this secretive cross platform art and music event. We can’t say what Noise of Art will be contributing because it hasn’t been started on yet.

Sunday 17 March

Slipped Disco Day Out at Big Chill Bar, Brick Lane, London EC1
Slipped Disco turns up the phasers and brings down the bpms for a slinky Sunday afternoon session with Ben Osborne, Rupert The Brewer and guests for one of their popular Big Chill Bar sessions and it’s all free.

Friday 22 March

Slipped Disco, slides back into its new residency at the Southbank Centre at the Hayward Gallery’s bar. “Obscenely fun electronic oddness. This pleases us very much indeed, primarily because of the anything-goes music policy that sees anything from classic techno, punk-funk, galactic house, deep down and dirty disco and other dancefloor dynamite do the rounds. Welcome back Slipped Disco, and let the fun and weirdness begin again.” (Time Out January 2013)

Naughties electronic, disco punk nightclub, Train, returns for  a session. With DJ Ben Osborne mixing tracks from the Train period into a contemporary set, the night will also see brand new trap DJ Pheetus bring his crunk laced beats to the floor. Meanwhile electro act, Evokateur, will perform live. “A Guaranteed good night” (Time Out, October 2012)
